A
true “resident
of the world”, Rumanian-born artist Janinne Alter
draws inspiration from her surroundings wherever
she sets her easel. Janinne’s family immigrated
to Venezuela in 1960 where she spent her young adult
years before moving to New York
City.
In
New York, Janinne began a career teaching English
as a second language. Although she
spent time developing
her appreciation for art and loved the pace and excitement
of ‘The City’, she longed for the beautiful
colors of the tropics. In 1980, she moved
to south Florida, an act that unleashed Janinne’s
passion for painting.
Janinne
draws inspiration from her travels throughout the
world—and her personal
journeys throughout life. Her work captures landscapes
that will elevate the human spirit and provide a
sense of joy, peace, and comfort to the observer.
A
recent series has taken Janinne in
a new direction
translating
raw
emotion
in a series
of acrylics.
Observing
the world as a way to learn about life, Janinne strives
to capture the landscape around herself
as she perceives it, through her senses and feelings
rather than purely as an illustration of reality.
She
was inspired by the French post-impressionists and
fauvist painters, such as Van Gogh, Cezanne, Vlaminck,
and Derain, as well as German expressionist painters
such as Emil Nolde and Lovis Corinth.
